This week’s image have a bit more story behind than some of the earlier weeks’ images. The image is from a place called Holmatjøn (Island lake). A name which roughly translate to the “Lake of small islands” in norwegian. “Holme” which is were the “holm” part of the name comes from means little island in norwegian. The word “tjøn”, or more commonly used “tjern”, means small lake or pond.
The location
The location I’ve visited am a place that I visited much during my childhood. It was one of swimming spots during the summer when I spent my time at my parents cabin. But for many years I’ve not been back due to me both being busy shoot conserts, and also suffering from deep depression. A depression that have some years drained me from any strength to make the effort to go back. But this year, as the summer came to a close, I spent a couple of days again at our family cabin.
I had just got my Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 VC replaced after my old one was broke. The warm august sun was still on the sky. I made the hike from the cabin to Holmatjøn. The hike recharged my energy, and I saw that it maybe lent it self to capture some shots.
After a rather warm and sweaty hike I made my way to one of the resting spots. What met me was the fond memories of my childhood, and scenes that was ripe to capture.
