Jæren is a coastal area in the county of Rogaland that streches from the Bokna-fjord in the north to Dalane in the south. It’s also situated on the southwestern part of Norway. The district is also Norways lagrest lowland area and is also one of the best agricultural area of Norway, but also hold much industrial production which is mostly tied to the farming production as with the Kverneland Group situated in Time and Klepp. Petroleum industry is more dominant of the northern part of Jæren.
The largest cities of Jæren is Stavanger and Sandnes.
The coastline of Jæren differs from what the main norwegian coastline is like by being a flatland area. It’s more like the coastal landscape of Denmark with flat plains and sandbeaches. Much of this area is protected by law as bird habitat. This means that movement and development is restricted, and in some area prohibited in periods. The dunes of the beaches is also deamed as easy degradeable which means that travel and play in the dunes is also restricted. Jæren holds a great diversity of birdlife.
