This week’s image is of Lista Fyr (Lista lighthouse) at sunset. There is no story as last week. The image was taken earlier this year.
Lista lighthouse is a lighthouse which has that typical shape one often assossiate with lighthouses. A tall carved granite tower that loom above horizon in the surrounding area. The lighthouse is connected to, and surrounded by other small houses and buildings. These housed the workshops, smithe, boathouse, outhouse and housing for the lighthousekeeper and family. Lista lighthouse was built in 1836. The tower which stands today dates back to 1853. There used to be three lighthouses at this station. Only one remains at the site. One of the other have been moved to Halten Fyr (lighthouse). The site today is open to the public as recreational area all year around. The surrounding buildings houses now a café, art gallery, tourist information, and other different functions. Also the lighthouse it self is open to the public within the opening hours of the lighthouse center.
